The plebs thirst for blood. This is the era of No Kings, Luigi Mangione crushes, and $12 eggs. Of course Zohran Mamdani bagged the Democratic nomination in the 2025 NYC mayoral campaign–he pushed tenant rights loud and clear. Perfect timing for a 4K restoration of the 1980 movie Night of the Juggler, directed by Robert Butler and starring the hunky James Broslin.
In this dark thriller, a mentally unstable Cliff Gorman kidnaps a girl he confuses for the daughter of a fat-cat real estate developer. His hope? A million dollars in cold, hard cash and the restored Bronx splendor of his childhood. You see, in Night of the Juggler, the Bronx isn’t burning; it’s already been burnt. Not so P.C. language about N-words and Sp*cs taking over the South Bronx gets thrown around not just by the psycho, but fellow white people who’ve decided the borough’s ruined. It’s late 70s New York City, baby. P.S. The cops in this movie will probably piss you off, too.
Want a whiff? For a long time, you couldn’t get one if you tried! Catch the 4K restoration of Night of the Juggler at the IFC Center in New York City starting August 1st. It’s also coming to select cities nationwide soon after that.
